Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

Coconut, what?

Coconut' Generation has fused food  habits, blended fashion trends, merged the East and the   West, amalgamated belief systems and have developed a unique sense of identity, consciousness and spirituality . . . Fusion food is served at the trendiest restaurants in London and New York. The popular glue of Bollywood (and its siblings Tollywood and Mollywood) has played a crucial role in creating a universal consciousness of the Indian mindset. Sam George explains more about 'coconut' - a metaphor for being brown on the outside and white on the inside.

Self- Abuse

I came across this distrubing new trend among young people: self-abuse. Nearly 1 in 5 students at two elite U.S. universities say they have purposely injured themselves by cutting, burning or other methods, a disturbing phenomenon that psychologists say they are hearing about more often. (Source: PTI) The results of the survey at Cornell and Princeton are similar to other estimates on this frightening behavior. Counselors say it is happening at colleges, high schools and middle schools across the United States. For some young people, self-abuse is an extreme coping mechanism that seems to help relieve stress; for others it…

100th Post

According to blogger, who is so diligently keeping track of all my previous posts, this is my 100th post. so I feel a speech is in order: First and foremost I would like to thank God who gives me the words to write instead of actions to regret (point to heaven), "thank you". I want to thank Beni, who introduced me to blogging and the whole blog world in which i can take a break from reality. umm... Navi, thanks for making the very first comment on my blog, you were an encouragement then and you still are today,... it's been over…

Letters to David II – My Dad Passed Away Yesterday Morning.

Dear David, My dad passed away yesterday morning. I am in shock. My in this moment, I seek nothing more than his presence. I loved him dearly. He was my father. He was the man that raised me. He was the person that was there when I was just feeding from my mother’s bosom. I remember his voice now, calling me, endearing me to him. I desire it right now more than ever. His breath brought peace to me, and now I can hold him no more. He is gone, a memory that will be stymied as days go by.…

Bangladeshi finds Jesus

I was always lost in darkness, filled with hatred and arrogance. I did not know what the love of God was . . . One day, while reading the Bible, I began to pray, and while praying, I began to cry. I just said, "O my Lord if you are the true Lord, please come into my heart and show Your glory." In that moment the Holy Spirit touched me and I heard His voice saying, "I am with you." . . . I thank God for His great love and the Heavenly peace He gives.

Sufficient Grace

"Act, and God will Act." ~ Joan of Arc The last few months and weeks have truly been an adventure. School has been insane. I will never take five classes at one time again. Ever. Work has been put on the back burner and neglected for the most part. Only working 4-6hrs a week now. Taking up most of my time are church activities which are by far the most exciting, but can also be super stressful at the most inconvenient of times. For example, next weekend is the Deeper Walk Youth Retreat and at the same time, I have…

What Code???

So all this crazy hype surrounding a novel, now movie... 1. I read this book last summer. Took me just a couple hours and at the end of it, my only thought was, so what? At first I assumed I was stupid for not seeing any point to the whole thing. But the more I thought about it, there really is no mystery to be solved, not to mention, the book is very poorly written. 2. Not wanting to offend too many people, I kept my opinions to myself. However, this morning I read an article in the Globe and…

Intelligent Design and the Finger-Print of God

"Do faith and science necessarily have to be at odds with one another? Pastor Pritam Singh discusses the evidence for Intelligent Design and how science and the exploration of God's universe is actually an enterprise that can and should testify to God's fingerprint in every facet of creation. In particular, Intelligent Design constitutes the best and most causally adequate explanation for the origin of the genetic information in the DNA necessary to produce a living cell.

Burden in My Heart for My Friends

'Disco Dancer' was my dream debut, a virtual newcomer to the Hindi entertainment scene that catapulted me overnight to the heights of fame and glory. I had everything I wanted and more and there was no stopping that drive. I was busy making money, enjoying the popularity and being invited to concerts . . . and then!

Self Destructive Behaviors and Internet Usage

I recently read about a new study that found how spending a lot of time on the Internet can induce self-destructive behaviour among young people. The researchers at Cornell University, headed by Janis L Whitlock, examined normal behaviour in chat rooms and the use of message boards by adolescents. They observed 406 message boards to investigate how adolescents solicit and share information related to self-injurious behaviour. They found that online interactions provide essential social support for otherwise isolated adolescents, but the online boards could also encourage self-injurious behaviour and add potentially lethal behaviours to the repertoire of established adolescent self-injurers,…

Raised From The Dead

It is not everyday that we hear of life testimonies as moving as Parminder Singh's life. Parminder was changed forever for Jesus after his sister was brought back from the dead. Yes, you heard it right! That healing brought about significant changes to him and his family. Parminder speaks forth about this major milestone and how the fervent desire to evangelize has been sparked deeply in his life. Read on and be encouraged.

Perpetual Students !!!

I now see why and how people become perpetual students. Have you looked at the requirements to get into some programs?? omgness, you literally need to hand over half your soul to some faculties and schools, they'll take the rest when you're in... I was looking at UVIC's law school... they accept 5 people to the LLB MBA program.. 5, FIVE, FIVE, five people!!! out of like 1500 that apply to the program. I wonder what will happen to the rest of them, (I can't breathe), I'm sure I'll find out soon. Did anybody see the year go by? I missed…

Embarrassment – Crash Movie Review

Crash is an amazing film. It brings out the ugly side of racism and highlights the stark reality of its ignorance and stupidity. How often do we conform to a stereotype thinking of what some races are, based on a few individuals who may spoil its image. Generalizations are never beneficial. Instead of pointing the finger at others, what can we do reach others? Are we an embarrassment ourselves?

Yay! Weekend!

Yay! Weekend! I'm so glad it's Friday! Next week is gonna be AWESOME!! So, yesterday I heard a lecture from this Sri Lankan professor from someplace in the States. The lecture was about Sanskrit and "walking" or movement and the religious and ritualistic aspects of it...etc. Anyways, he made a couple really ignorant comments about Christianity and it kinda ticked me off. 1.) Walking around a certain area with a picture of a god in order to purify an area is "now even being done by Christians who walk around with pictures of saints, going from village to village, etc."…
