Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

I Found Jesus On The Internet – God's Love Toward A Radical Muslim

I was born in a wealthy Muslim family in Pakistan, but when I was a few months old, I was carried to Saudi Arabia by my father . . . One day I was passing with a friend through shops and I came to an internet cafe. I was on the internet on yahoo.com and there came a thought in my mind: "Type "Who Is Jesus?"  and I got lots of web sites. I was amazed that I could search about Jesus Christ there . . . I kept coming to this web site often. Some of the other Christian web sites were blocked as you may know very well. One day I thought of giving Jesus a try and so I said the salvation prayer on their web site.

Backslidden And Proud of It!

Yes, I have backslidden but I have not backslidden from our precious Lord Jesus. I love the dear Lord with all my heart. I am closer to God than I have never been and don't want to leave Christ. He is my first love, I am his and He is mine and I want to grow closer to Him. But I have backslidden & turned away from 'christianity' that is based on "Christian" sub-culture and charismatic church trends rather than the gospel and truth of God sending His begotten son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins.…

Phone-A-Phobia

1. Phonophobia is the fear of sounds. Kinda strange aye? How does someone with such a fear deal with it? Sound is hard to get away from. Sometimes I think people make up these "phobias" regardless of whether it's an actual, recorded, true fear that a real person is facing. Anyhow, my title has nothing to do with the fear of sounds. What is does have to do with is kinda complicated as I don't fully understand it myself. Hello, my name is Beni and I have a problem. I have an irrational aversion to making phone calls. For the…

Jesus Is Hanging Out With Sinners and Tax Collectors

Jesus’ parable in Luke 15 has been on my mind a ton lately. I’m so impressed by what Jesus communicated and how He did and to whom. Jesus is hanging out with sinners and tax collectors. It says they kept “drawing near to Him.” Ok, stop right there. Isn’t it amazing that the most irreligious people wanted to be around Jesus. Does the Church reflect that quality of the Lord? As we get ready to plant a church, will we do so in such a way that the “sinners and tax collectors” of our culture would be drawn near? Or…

Young Adults Delaying Marriage

The young adult population in America is postponing marriage. The census report that almost three-quarters of men and almost two-thirds of women in their 20s in 2006 said they had never been married. This shows a sharp increase in never-married twentysomethings in America between 2000 and 2006. See the report in USA Today. The old trend of marrying your high school sweetheart or meeting someone at college and get married soon after graduation, isn’t the way to go these days. People are longer in school, working through many jobs, try to pay up your college debt and not to mention…

Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross

I was moved by the hymn Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross and the ancient hymn Phos Hilaron, so I wrote something that went along with what I was feeling. Jesus keep me near the cross,There a precious fountain.Free to all, a healing stream,Flows from Calvary’s mountain. Redemption’s eyes watch and wait to find a soul in search for TheeO great Savior, King in splendor, lived and died to set me freeHow loving and tender Your compassion, to shower grace and mercyUpon souls who respond willingly and humbly to your call and plea In the cross, in the crossBe my glory…

Intimacy in Marriage

People often wed while they are in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, thus they have never worked through the grid of their relationship when all those euphoric feelings are missing. Also, most men are clueless in regards to the state of their relationship with their spouse. A few years after I was married, someone once asked me how my marriage was and I said great, not knowing that my marriage was in trouble because my wife was feeling alienated from me emotionally. If leaders would just learn to properly prioritize their marriage and family, focusing properly on what matters most, then all the other things they desire for significance will manifest in their proper time!

Bubbles

1. Today was interesting. Anisha and I were bored. I was too tired to run around and be silly. And Anisha needed something fun to do. So we went poking around in our garage and found a couple bottles of bubbles with wands and sat around for about a half hour blowing away to our hearts' content. And the whole time I thought about Mia. She was the one in Vancouver wanting to blow bubbles all the time regardless of what we were doing. We brought along a bottle of bubbles to everything from Steveston to WPC. Ahh...memories. Anyhow, that's…

Vision Management Class: An Interview With A Visionary Leader

I had the privilege of interviewing a visionary leader Pastor Pritam Singh. I was always amazed at the dedication and diligence he displayed when overcoming obstacles, finishing tasks, and seeing his dreams become a reality. When I look at this man, there really is nothing else that beats in his heart. He honestly lives out the Great Commission, and believes what the Bible says. He honors his God as he pastors, as he fathers, as he is an awesome husband, as an amazing friend, and as a exemplary visionary. This man speaks what he lives and I appreciate that so much about him. I have been touched by his dedication to ministry and to fulfilling the call of God on his life.

Our Indian Heritage

It has been fascinating studying these epics and Hinduism. I will never turn my back on Jesus Christ, I gave my life to him and Christianity is a covenant between me and God. Religion is not a set of consumeristic ornaments you put on yourself just to feel good about yourself. People are so superficial and selfish. Materialistic and self-centered American culture views everything from people, relationships and religions as commodies to appease self. Before, I go on a tangent I wanted to study these epics as literature so that I can get a deeper understanding of Hinduism. I am…

To Understand Teens, Go Online

That was the title of an article in USA Today. Having written the book Understanding the Coconut Generation, which was an attempt to understand a particular group of teens in America, that title got my attention right away. Some think teens are non-talkative, but not so in the virtual world. Social networking sites have proven then teens love to talk about themselves, their vulnerabilities and reveal their souls. No freely share their greatest secrets and fears. They are less concerned what other may think and quick to pour out their hearts before the world. They are looking for affirmation, guidance,…

Isaiah 54 – A Very Personal Message For Women – The Lonely, The Disappointed, The Childless, The Widow, The Neglected . . .

Isaiah 54Notes and Verses taken from the Amplified BibleAlthough this chapter is primarily intended to express Zion's joy over redemption, it has also a very personal, long-neglected, and often overlooked message for women--the lonely, the disappointed, the childless, the widow. It has all the glorious confidence and assurance, the incentive and understanding, for which feminine hearts have longed throughout the ages! Every woman who will read it every week for a year with receptive heart and mind will find herself not only spiritually prepared for her own childlessness or widowhood, should it come, but also supplied with rich treasure with…

God's Perfect Plan For Those Who Have Failed

There are many brothers and sisters who feel that because they have sinned and failed God at some time in their past lives, therefore they cannot fulfill God's perfect plan for their lives now. Let us look at what the Scriptures has to say on this matter, and not lean on our own understanding or our sense of logic. Whatever your blunders or failures, you can make a new beginning with God. And even if you have made a thousand new beginnings in the past and have come to failure, you can still make the 1001st new beginning today. God can still make something glorious out of your life. While there is life, there is hope. All people - young and old - can have hope, no matter how much they may have failed in the past, if only they will acknowledge their failures, be humble and trust God.

Online Harassment

A 13-year old girl in Missouri committed suicide after being harassed over popular social networking site MySpace. The city has outlawed electonic media harassment as a crime. But it turns out that the online friend was fictitious person! Read the report in Houston Chronicles, LA Times, and ABC News. Internet hoax, cyberbullying, virtual blackmails etc are new problems of the new world. Can online relationships be held to same standards as real ones? What if it was her depression that led to suicide? Can online chat lead people to extreme step of taking their own lives? Many are forging relationships…

My Brain Is Done. I Can’t Read Another Thing . . . This Is The Kind Of Mental Exhaustion . . .

“This has been one of the hardest sermons I’ve ever had to prepare. My brain is done. I can’t read another thing. Shainu, I have to warn you that this is the kind of mental exhaustion that will probably require 6 hours of mindless football watching just to recover. And that’s not something I want to do, but for the sake of the church, I guess I’ll suffer through it.” Those were the opening lines to my sermon this week. I got to preach on the wonderful but complex idea that the Bible is completely trustworthy. In theological language, we…
