A God-thought

The other day, I was sitting in the bus on my way to UBC (University of British Columbia) feeling rather frustrated, impatient, and insecure, which is not unusual since my dad passed away a month ago and school, work, friends, and family matters push for first priority. Maybe your situation is different from mine, but the truth is that all of us have periods in our lives where we feel like we'll never be all that God has called us to be. This is a perfect time for a God-thought.

You're probably thinking, what on earth is a God-thought? A God-thought is not a 'happy thought'; rather, a God-thought comes straight from the heart of God to you, something that we in our humanness could never think of. Isaiah says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." So even when I'm not sure where my life is headed, I take comfort in the fact that God does know and that He will lead and guide me into the future He has prepared for me.

When was the last time you had a God-thought about your life or about your future? Where can you find God-thoughts? Sometimes, God whispers it right into your spirit. You can also find them right here on the SAC website. But the easiest place to find God-thoughts is the Bible. For example, take Jeremiah 29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." That is a God-thought.

So next time you're feeling down or discouraged, think of all the wonderful thoughts that God is having towards you. You may not be thinking of Him, but He, the Creator of the universe, is actually thinking about you. So grab a hold of one of His thoughts because His thoughts for you are always good!
