Pastor Anil Kant comes from a Hindu-Punjabi family. His parents, being very devout and religious, taught him Hindu scriptures from a young age. Music was an integral part of his life. In spite of the regular spiritual guidance from his parents; Pastor Anil Kant still knew that something was amiss and from a young age had a quest for a close relationship with God.
MUSICAL JOURNEY
Pastor Kant started writing, composing and singing at the early age of twelve. He took it as a profession at the age of eighteen, while in University. It was during this time that he met his wife, Reena, who was also musically inclined. After their marriage, they shifted to Singapore, where they resided from 1986 – 1990. He continued to pursue an onstage career that put him on the fast track to fame and prosperity giving performances, traveling frequently all over the world.
In 1990 they moved to Jakarta, Indonesia to continue the musical journey which was giving Pastor Kant recognition, prosperity and greater achievements. But at the same time, his heart continued to search for the truth as he had been longing for a deep and enduring relationship with God.
CHANGED LIFE
Some close friends invited him to train their church choir in Indian music. During these training sessions the love of Jesus was shared with him. They prayed consistently for him and his family. It opened up his heart slowly and he began to read the Bible. And the truth set him free from all bondages and rituals.
In the year 1999, Pastor Anil Kant returned to India along with his family.
During this period of settling down in Mumbai, he encountered Jesus which
marked the beginning of a changed heart and a new life.
He wanted to have an enduring relationship with God for a long time and one night, while reading the bible, he read the verse from John 14:6, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. He experienced a new freedom – freedom from the past, from bondage, sin and selfishness. He knew that God loves him, and also learnt that God sent his son Jesus, to earth to pay the penalty for our sins. Jesus took the sin upon Himself so that we might have a restored relationship with our Creator. That night Pastor Anil Kant accepted Lord Jesus in his heart and received salvation.
Now began his real test of faith when he started sharing the Gospel with his wife and children. It was very hard on the family to break their traditional thoughts and social fears. Pastor Anil Kant began to lift his family to the feet of Jesus. His desire was that he and Reena be water baptized together. He stood on the promise of God where in Acts 16.31 it says “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household”. God is true to his word and Pastor Anil Kant got his entire house to Jesus in the year 2001 and found great inner peace. He uncovered a new direction that God had in store for his life. While the circumstances were same, everything seemed new. Pastor Anil testifies “when God puts his hand on you, everything changes so quickly”. A heart shift led to change in his music and his writing.
FOLLOWER OF JESUS
“A time is coming and is now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4.42
Pastor Anil Kant has dedicated himself completely to use his talents for the Lord. He recorded his first Gospel album in 2002 and since then he has released 18 Gospel Albums. His songs are word based (bible scriptures) because it is the word that breaks the yoke. It brings the anointing and the presence of God in our lives. “It is not about the songs we sing in worship. It’s about the heart we offer to the Lord,” Pastor Anil Kant admits, “God can use anybody and He uses us all, exactly where He has planned to use us.”
Pastor Anil Kant has two children, Shreya and Rishabh, who have given their lives to the Lord and together they are serving God as a family.Pastor Anil Kant was ordained as a Pastor in the year 2007. The Lord put in his heart to begin a Satsang, a contextualized church model which is a Fellowship relevant to our Indian Culture, reaching out to the unreached. From the year 2007, Pastor Anil Kant is holding weekly satsang fellowship called ‘Ashram of Life’ in Andheri (West), Mumbai.
Pastor Anil Kant travels extensively all over the world proclaiming the Word of God and singing the gospel. According to God’s good, perfect and acceptable will, Pastor Anil Kant desires to spread the gospel in all nations and to see the world touched for Jesus through their music and the various television programs.
