Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

Run With Positive Purpose

Thomas Friedman in his book, “The World Is Flat” writes about a wall hanging which says:“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.Every morning a lion wakes up.It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you better start running.”In this metaphor, young people are reduced to the level of sub human beings - animals.  A young man could be like lion that is in search…

One Way Jesus

One Way - Jesus - You're The Only One That I Could Live For - One Way - Jesus - You're The Only One That I Could Live For - You Are Always, Always There - Every How And Everywhere - Your Grace Abounds So Deeply Within Me - You Will Never Ever Change - Yesterday Today The Same - Forever Till Forever Meets No End - You Are The Way The Truth And The Life - We Live By Faith And Not By Sight For You - We're Living All For You

Comforter Made Comfortable!

Reading: Ephesians 4:17-32
"Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God,
whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption (Eph 4:30)

The Father God has sent us the Holy Spirit as a Comforter who abides with us forever. He is resident in us. It is our duty to keep Him comfortable in our lives and make Him feel at home. The New Testament teaches us how to do it—

What Really Matters Is . . . . The Gospel!

‘Sorry to hear about what happened!’ When I hear this, I think of Paul writing to the Philippians. Two years in jail, a long sea voyage as prisoner, now two years in bonds again! This pioneer’s prayers seem unheard and his potential untapped. We would be filled with resentment, regret and remorse. But listen to him: ‘I therein do rejoice… and will rejoice’ (1:18). How could he have this bold, positive attitude?!

Youth Exposing Themselves Bare – New Online Fad

Young people are exposing more of their skin on the web. Getting naked in front of webcamera and cellphones are getting cooler than you think. “Baring and sharing’ it with friends is the new fad among teens with access to technology. Age of high tech flirting, I guess.

Diasporas – People on the Move

We need to educate our congregations to be effectively relational in our “global neighborhood.”  We need to try the new Somalian restaurant (for example) and then invite our friends there to expose them to the culture of our new neighbours.  It is important for Christians to build cultural awareness that will result to authentic relationships making them credible witnesses for Jesus Christ . . .  . We now have an unprecedented opportunity to introduce the Diasporas to Jesus Christ and invite them to become part of His Church.  With Lausanne Diasporas, we are proactively responding to this major global trend of Diasporas and the Diaspora issue will be addressed at Cape Town 2010.  Pray that Diaspora Missions will be embraced by the Whole Church.

Break Up Breaking You?

Have you heard the recent news of some scientists in London who claims to have moved closer to making a pill that you can pop that can get rid of bad memories? So far they have been successful only on rats so let’s leave it to that for now. But, it is true that we all have memories that we wish we could erase.

Have Patience With Me!

"Have patience with me," cried the slave as he begged his fellow-slave for mercy (Matt.18:29).

This is also the unspoken cry that comes to us as housewives and mothers from many of those with whom we have to do each day. But we need to be sensitive in our spirits if we are to hear that cry - for it is unspoken.

Lessons Learned from the (Almost) Florida Quran Burning

Pastor Terry Jones went from obscure pastor to a worldwide phenomenon last week because of his foolish plan to burn copies of the Quran.  During this fiasco he kept hiding behind God, saying God was speaking to him and giving him guidance throughout the entire drama. Pastor Jones came off ignorant when admitting he has never read the Quran and revealed gross naiveté by announcing that Imam Rauf agreed to move the proposed Ground Zero mosque in return for Dove International agreeing not to burn Qurans.  This is in spite of never even speaking once to Imam Rauf!

My Thoughts on September 11, 2010

(Delivered at a vigil in Sunset Park, Brooklyn on September 11, 2010.)

Today is indeed a somber day for every citizen of this nation--especially those who live in New York City--a day when we remember the 3,000 people brutally murdered by one cowardly act of terrorism, and when we remember the hundreds of firefighters and police officers who gave their lives to save others.

Ten Ways Muslims View Christianity

The following is based on numerous personal conversations with Muslims, personal study, and intensive training I received from a missions organization in preparation for one month of outreach in a Muslim nation in 1979.
The astonishing thing about my conversations with Muslims is that most of them have the same moral values that Christians should have, and that this is one of the biggest stumbling blocks hindering them from believing that Christianity is true. (Most of them are very warm, friendly people. Some experts estimate that only about 7-10% of them are affiliated in some way with radical Islam, which is still about 100 million adherents globally.)

Quran/ Koran Burning and the Ground Zero Christian Center

One thing that hurts the reputation of the Body of Christ much during times of crisis and controversy is when an independent pastor and/or church decides to capitalize on an issue to make a name for themselves, rather than act in a Christ-like manner that would benefit the Kingdom of God.

I Have Found My Purpose, Have You?

As I started to pursue the call of God in my life, I was not sure whether I should be in full time ministry. Two or three years I was in dilemma about this matter. But the desire to teach and preach the word of God increased still more. After that I joined in a Bible college which God directed me to join. A lot of maturity and revelation came to me those days. God miraculously provided all the fees I needed to finish it. I found true joy and peace as I obeyed the voice of God. Praise the Lord! . .  . . Even from the day I heard God, the burden to reach out to the nation of India and China which are the most populated nations and to the nations with the word of God increased in me.

7 Highly Effective Eagle Habits from the Bible

Eagles are the only birds that loves the storm. When all other birds try to flee from the storm and hide itself from the fierceness of it, eagles fly in to it and will use the wind of the strom to rise higher in a fraction of seconds. It uses the pressure of the storm to glide higher without using its own energy. It is able to do this because God has created it uniquely with an ability to lock its wings in a fixed position, in the midst of the fierce storm winds. After a certain period of experiencing storms face to face, the eagles love to play in the storms. As we face the stormy wind of afflictions in life, the Holy Spirit helps us lock our mind in a fixed position with the grace of God through faith in the finished work of the Cross, which helps us not to spend our energy but just stay in the storm and enjoy the lift and height of heavenly mindedness in a greater and greater altitude.

So Broke, So In Debt But Here Am I Lord – "Use Me"

I had so many odds against me – I do not have any money, I do not have a passport or a valid birth certificate. I battled in my mind and thought for many days “Is it possible for me to go to Singapore with nothing in my hand and on a very short notice?” My father encouraged me with these words from the book of Romans “The Just Shall Live By Faith” and told me to read, meditate and pray these words over my life. I took a step of faith and immediately began the process of planning to go to the  School of Theology in Singapore.. .  . . I totally depended on God for everything – for finances, for a lap-top, for friends, for food, for travel and living arrangements. God gave me many good friends from many different countries of the  world, provided for my every need and even a lap-top for my personal use.

What’s So Great About Christianity

The contribution of Christians to the West is enormous.  Christians were the first the build hospitals.  Initially it was mainly for Christians, later it was for every one.  The beneficiaries were the Muslims who came to Christian lands to conquer them.  Christianity produced leaders like who served the poor and sick, which is unheard in other religions.  Christians have contributed to improve human life and reduce human suffering. . . . . . The author presents Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and how Christianity could change a person’s life in the last two chapters. It is a wonderful book that should be read by all Christian thinkers and use this book for evangelizing the intellectuals.  All Christian leaders, pastors, missionaries and professionals should read this book.

Evil – How Defined? To Be Accepted Or Fought?

As I am preparing to give a lecture on this topic, and I have never earlier spoken or written on it, I thought I might post the outline to get the benefit of your thoughts:

EVIL: How defined? To be Accepted or Fought?
A Cross-cultural and Inter-religious Comparison by Professor Prabhu Guptara

Every Fourth Migrant In Singapore Is An Indian

Indian nationals settling down in Singapore due to its friendly-environment, now account for about a quarter of the total 1.79 million foreigners and permanent residents' population, a newspaper reported today.

According to a report published in The Straits Times the number of Indian nationals living in Singapore has doubled to 400,000 from 200,000 two years ago. It also reports the number of Indians setting up companies in Singapore has doubled from 1,500 in 2006 to 3,000 now, most of whom are doing businesses in the information technology, finance, trading and food and beverages sector.
