Busting Marriage Myths

Have illusions begun to influence the way you think about your marriage? Remember the battle is for the mind. It has been so since Eve engaged in contemplating the forbidden fruit. Battles are won and lost in the minds of marriage partners. If you are starting down any of these tracks, take time to align with the Truth again. Anita Lazarus shares.

The Big Bang – A one liner

I heard this "one-liner" from a friend of mine. i think it's pure genius: "I believe in the Big Bang theory; God spoke and Bang it happened"

Summer Daze

Exams are out and summer's in full swing! My plans for this summer include: 1. Selling shoes so my pockets remain full. 2. Settling into our new house with my own room once again. It'll be a whole lot nicer than this one bedroom suite we've been boarding in for the last year. 3. Getting my wisdom teeth out, which I anticipate to be quite painful and other descriptions aren't helping much either. 4. A two-month trip to India, which is why I got a job in the first place. I figured if I was so adamant about going, I'd…

Ms. Alees Samaan, a Christian woman became the first non-Muslim to act as Speaker of parliament in Bahrain, a predominantly Muslim country. Gathering Together

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20) Such a simple verse, most people recite it at the beginning of a prayer meeting or worship service not even considering the power that is in these few words. If you're unfamiliar with the verse, the "I" of this verse is Jesus. Accepting that the Word of God is absolute truth, and all things written in the Bible are true, the above statement cannot be false. Besides this, Jesus has and is always one keep his word, fulfilling the prophesies…

Why the Resurrection Matters

The fact of the matter is Christianity does, indeed, rest critically on the reality of Christ's resurrection. It is only through the Resurrection that we can understand who Christ is, what God's will through Him is and why our hope in Him makes any sense at all. Kamal shares.

The Will to Do – I, Isaac Take Thee Rebekah

Is there such a thing as true love and can it last through marriage? Has Hollywood and Bollywood distorted its meaning? Whether you are contemplating a relationship, seriously dating or married, Ravi Zacharias' I, Isaac Take Thee, Rebekah is an essential to any relationship. The book provides a realistic picture of love and offers Bible-based counsel to guide you through marital success. It boils down to one basic principle that we fail to recognize: "Love is as much a question of the will as it is of the emotion". Check out the excerpt on the RZIM site.

UPDATE 2: Sick on Monday

Sigh...just as I was about to leave the office, it had to happen. It was 7pm..i packed my bag, cleared my table and my boss came in with a loud shout out "Hey Amit". We all know what would have followed. As you might have guessed, work, work, work. It was some powerpoint presentation for one of the big shots in the company and i had to edit it. They don't call me the "Powerpointer" for nothing. I left at 8.20 and my faithful friends were right there waiting. Thank God for friends like that and bosses too...hehe.

UPDATE 1: Sick on Monday

Interview with Rick Warren by Paul Bradshaw

I found the following rather inspiring. In an interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren said: People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond, In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body - but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillion…

Does God Exist?

The basic question which has plagued the minds of thinking people down through the ages is, "Does God exist?" Very often a parent has been faced with this very important query by the child: If God made everything, who made God? L.T. Jeyachandran shares.

Sick on Monday

Arrghh...not feeling well. It's a Monday morning, i'm at work and am down with a flu and slight headache. Woke up this morning thinking that i'll just take medical leave. Though for the most part of it, it was my own laziness that stuck me to my bed. It didn't help that the weather was ideal for staying in. Cool, rainy and windy...i just wanted to sleep till 10 or 11! Well, i grudgingly got out of bed (as i usually would every Monday), rushed to get ready and nose and head felt like it was being knocked against a…

Exodus Revisited

The question of how tens of thousands of people survived forty years in the desert, raised their children, warded of enemies, and fulfilled a God-given plan and purpose continues to baffle many. Benita writes a compelling analysis of Exodus and sheds further light on how this story has shaped the workings of the society of the time and those of subsequent generations.

How Much Do We Give? A Post-Tsunami Reflection

Photo by Simon Wong. simon.wong@intuitivesystems.com.au2004 ended with the worst of natural calamities with the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster but 2005 began with a display of the best of humanity's virtues. The outpouring of giving and care internationally in the disaster's wake has indeed been commendable. However, it dawned on me that every situation wherein we have the opportunity to give, no matter how much we give we can always offer more. And that gives pause for reflection.

Be Still And Know That I Am God

It recently dawned on me that with some 175,000 people dead and vast stretches of Asia ripped apart, the devastating tsunami has prompted millions of religious believers and skeptics to question why a good and all-powerful deity would permit such evil and grief to fall on so many innocent people. Many have had silent cries to the Creator: Where was God during the tsunami? How can a merciful God allow such disaster and suffering? And should we interpret this as a sign from the Almighty? Questions abound and I honestly don't have all the answers. In the coming weeks, we hope…
