Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

About God

There is beauty in the cross, and there is life in Christ’s blood. I love to think about that sometimes. God can put beauty into something so wretched, and can bring life even when one has lost it. The antithesis of God is normalcy, monotony, and indifference. God is vibrant. I love serving a God who is beyond my wildest imaginations. It is such a God that continually captivates and motivates me. He is such a God that there is nothing I can whip up that would cause Him to scratch His head. He is beyond my mindful meanderings. Just this…

Word of God, Speak

O LORD, You have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me... My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All…

The Truth Is Never Pretty . . .

The National Geographic Channel aired a program entitled, Secrets of Revelation.  Secrets of Revelation presented the usual speculations and historical evidence behind the Book of Revelation [or The Revelation of Jesus Christ].  What stood out were the “Christian” ministers who asserted that Revelation was mere literature.  This was followed up by statements that the author of Revelation was an angry, displaced old man. Cassandrah Batya writes in defence that the truth is never pretty.

Sometimes God Has A Way Of Saying, “I’m In Control”.

Sometimes God takes before giving back. Sometimes God has a way of saying, “I’m in control”. Sometimes the things you want the most must die…truly die. Sometimes pain and struggle are a good thing. Sometimes brokenness is the best thing that ever happens…the severe mercy of God. Sometimes dying to desires helps us truly live as stewards of what God has blessed us with. Sometimes the smallest things steer the biggest things in life. Sometimes trusting in God is the hardest thing to do. Sometimes what seemed the worst could turn out to be the best. Sometimes… http://impassionedimperfections.com

True Security Is My Relationship With You Lord

Concentrate on your testimony, Rajwin. But at the same time, realize that maintaining a strong testimony is no easy task. When you are faithful to Jesus Christ it will cost you something. You will often be misunderstood, even by your closest friends and family members. You will have constant attacks from an enemy you can not even see. Faithfullness to Christ may even cost you your home, your ambition, your liffe. Your full reward will not come only unitil your work is completed. But serving Christ is a great challenge, but no other life offers greater rewards." Availability and dependability…

GIMP & the Truth In The Inward Being

Installed GIMP today. Wanted to get away from photoshop, mainly because the ones available are pirated. Downloaded Grokking the GIMP. Just what I need to get going. Having made a decision to not use any pirated software, I am pretty happy with where I have reached so far. Learned to do websites with HTML-kit and NVU, CSS with notepad2 and Topstyle lite and now with GIMP, I'm hoping to get creative. Living in India, going legit with software is not an easy decision to make, but the laborer is worthy of his wages. Taking or using something that the owners…

India : Religious Liberty for Christians

Ramesh is perplexed.  He always thought that religion was a private affair till he became a follower of Jesus Christ. Ramesh is firm in his convictions having come to the Christian faith through personal exploration of the Bible  . . . However, he is still facing pressures from the anti-social elements to re-convert to the "Indian" religion and his struggle continues daily. Vijayesh Lal writes: Christian Persecution is not a myth but a fact in India. There are various stages of Christian persecution in India from disinformation against Christians, discrimination and persecution emerging in either mob violence or religious extremism. Why these attacks? Read more . . .

Make It Count

"I want school to start, I want assignments, and papers, reading and stress." - Tyna Back-to-school Tuesday morning will be here in less that twelve hours and most of us will be returning to the knowledge laden halls of academia with backpacks on our shoulders and ipods in our pockets. While you’re reconnecting with old friends, getting acquainted with new ones, and settling into your new class schedules…don’t forget to make it count. Your purpose in school is just as much to be a light as it is to study. Don’t just let the year slide by without ever considering what…

Why Coconuts Are Not Getting Married?

A few weeks ago, I spoke at one of the PARIVAR’s family seminars in Chicago. The seminar was geared towards immigrant parents with marriageable children. This was first of its kind seminar that I have ever heard of or spoken at in the Indian community. Topic given to me was – “What does your children want to tell you ….and don’t know how?” In less than 20 minutes, I had to communicate all that singles think about relationship and marriage to their parents. Not an easy task at all. But in light of research on the *Coconut Generation book and…

21st Century Teens – Hungry for Connection!

If  you counsel young people, try to look at July/August Psychotherapy Networker (www.psychotherapynetworker.org) The magazine notes that “media-saturated millennium kids live in a disconnected world that spawns intense inner fragmentation. If we are to help them heal these splits, we need to move beyond the constraints of traditional therapy.” This is a generation engulfed in an electronic environment where boys especially cannot identify or express their emotions because many are engulfed by the “all-encompassing stimulation provided by video and computer games.” Despite connecting on Internet and phone, young people are still “hungry for connection! The Networker is not Christian but…

India – Rich and Poor

I recently came across this strange paradox. India is both poor & rich! 35 per cent of Indian population lives on less than $1 a day, which is comparable to Bangladesh’s 36 per cent and much worse than Pakistan’s 17 per cent. The World Bank reported that India is 12th wealthiest nation in 2005 with its GDP touching 785.47 billion dollars or Rs 35,34,615 crore . US was the wealthiest nation with GDP of 12.46 trillion dollars. While India was way down compared to China, positioned fourth with 2.23 trillion dollars of GDP, it was wealthier than Mexico, Russia and Australia.…

Living It Out

“Hey, we’re going to the night market! They usually have it during the summer”. I had never ever been to a night market. I was home for the weekend, getting to see my family again, and somehow it was the next thing on the agenda to do this particular evening. So off we went. The first thing on my mind prior to this trip was to ask God for some sort of fresh understanding or perspective on Vancouver, because I realized that my future had something to do with this city. So here I was reflecting as we all travelled…

The Power of Words

A wise man of God recently told me, “The opportunity of a lifetime has to be seized in the lifetime of the opportunity.”  Wow.  What a profound statement.  And so true.  God gives us opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those around us.  Those opportunities are here today, gone tomorrow.  We can either seize those opportunities as they come and make a positive impact in people’s lives, or we can let the opportunities pass us by, and in effect, make a “negative” impact . . . . Sungeeta Jain, in her eloquent article, makes a case for the power of words in the destiny of your own personal life and in the lives of others.

True Fasting

Isaiah 58 Amplified Bible 1CRY ALOUD, spare not. Lift up your voice like a trumpet and declare to My people their transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins!    2Yet they seek, inquire for, and require Me daily and delight [externally] to know My ways, as [if they were in reality] a nation that did righteousness and forsook not the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me righteous judgments, they delight to draw near to God [in visible ways].     3Why have we fasted, they say, and You do not see it? Why have we afflicted ourselves, and You take…

Disease, Despair, Doubt . . . and Defining Declarations in God

I am a witness to the great biblical doctrine of healing. My life has never been the same since the day Jesus touched me! In declaring the gospel of the Kingdom, the greatest tool that Jesus used was the power of God to heal the human body. It’s mind boggling and logic twisting how those who were diseased or deformed could be instantaneously healed without a trace of their sickness. Jesus did not just talk, He performed. Jesus did not simply suggest, He commanded. Jesus did not only sympathize with the problem, He solved it. I am Finu Iype and this is my story.
