Their god is Lucifer, the god of mystic love, occult powers, spiritual drunkenness, manifestations, and enchantments; and also the god of all the miseries we have seen.
But there is one religion Mr. Crowley excluded from his equation, and rightly so: Christianity.”

True to His Ways: Purity & Safety in Christian Spiritual Practice by R. Davis is a must-read book. Ms. Davis, a former charismatic follower, has compiled an incredible amount of research on the correlation between the charismatic faith, the occult and eastern religions [including yoga]. She presents a sound apologetic argument for why it is essential for Christians to use biblical objectiveness to test every spirit, rather than a contemplative subjective view of accepting any spirit which “feels” to be of God.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. - I John 4:1 [KJV]
One thing I have written before is that Satan, our enemy, loves to imitate the things of God and make a mockery of the things he cannot imitate. In her book, True to His Ways, Ms. Davis goes into great depths pointing out the biblical errors in major counterfeit religious beliefs of our day. The information given on the spiritual dangers of yoga is invaluable in regards to biblical discernment. Christians who think that yoga is a harmless form of exercise to relieve stress are deceived. Just like Eve, these Christians are eating a forbidden fruit of spiritual destruction.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: - Genesis 3:4 [KJV]
And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. - Genesis 3:6 [KJV]
I believe as the Bible states that we are in spiritual warfare, but I also believe that many Christians for lack of biblical knowledge are choosing the wrong methods to combat the fiery darts of the enemy. I have always thought there was something, not only dangerous, but also wrong with battling a demon in order to exorcise it. In the Bible, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and his disciples never spent hours or days casting out a demon. They merely spoke simple words of abolishment and evil spirits instantly left. In the section “Spiritual Warfare: The Orthodox vs. The Occult Approach,” I agree with Ms. Davis’s following assessments in chapter 16, “The Pursuit of Spiritual Authority:”
“Spiritual warfare is real, but there is an occult counterfeit.”
“…our greatest protection from satanic attack is the cultivation of holiness in character and conduct – that is walking in God’s will. The apostle John wrote:
‘We know that whosoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him [I John 5:18].’
…As to intercessory warfare, the orthodox approach is first to pray, plead and reason with God on behalf of those who need His mercy and power. Second – and equally important – we intercede for people by teaching and declaring God’s truth…”

Chapter 6, “Right Ways to Seek God; The Entrance of His Words Brings Light,” is my favorite chapter for its simplicity and beauty. In chapter 6, Ms. Davis highlights the right ways to worship God. She covers the following foundational attributes of the Christian faith:
1. On Learning Truth: Finding and Growing in The Knowledge of God
2. On Obedience: Communion With God
3. On Prayer: Communication With God
4. The Simplicity of Right Practice
Any Christian who devote themselves to growing spiritually in Christ using these four basic methods of worship will not be found lacking.
I was impressed with the vast amount of information Ms. Davis researched. Though the entire book, she remained true to The Word of God. Her book is a biblically sound resource, which points out the errors in esoteric faiths. I encourage you to read True to His Ways: Purity & Safety in Christian Spiritual Practice by R. Davis, a Biblical Christian sister. After you finish reading it, be sure to pass it along to someone else.
