Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

Public Reading of Scripture. A Spiritual Practice

The public reading of Scripture helps you remember: WHO GOD IS, WHO YOU ARE and WHO WE ARE CALLED TO BE. “Devote yourself to the public reading of scripture…” Apostle Paul, I Timothy 4:13. WHAT? The public reading of Scripture is a spiritual practice in which a group listens to Scripture being read aloud.

WHY? Listening to Scripture is a timeless practice—people from Moses to Jesus built it into their lives. It invites us to pause, tune out distractions, and humbly hear God’s voice. It is powerful when a congregation or small group has the regular opportunity to audibly experience together significant portions of God’s Word. Who knows what God will do through an emphasis on the public reading of Scripture in your church or small group?
