Strategies To Effectively Evangelize The Modern Urban South Asian Diaspora
Above All – You Thought Of Me
Women – Earliest Witnesses of Jesus' Resurrection
Even today, women through their deep devotion encounter the living Jesus in our midst (while we are busy with committee meetings, church politics and church administration). The role of women in the different ministries of the church is crucial - they teach our children at the Sunday school, they are involved in outreach ministries, they raise funds for Church projects, they enhance the aesthetics of our worship halls, they sing in the choir, and they participate in cottage prayer meetings, bible studies, mid-week meetings etc - yet they go ‘unnoticed' and ‘unrecognized'. In fact, there's a whole list of things that women do in our churches that is taken for granted. Ironically, it is through their seemingly ‘lowly' ministries and yet faithful service in our churches that they encounter the living Jesus present in our midst. The risen Jesus continues to honor their faith and women encounter him. Women continue to follow Jesus and remain faithful to him, despite their ‘invisibility' within church structures. Not surprisingly, women are greatly used by God to undergird the church's life and mission.
Analyzing David Wilkerson's Prophecy of Calamity
Over the past several days Pastor David Wilkerson’s prophecy regarding a great calamity coming upon the United States (starting in New York City) has been headlined on the Drudge Report and has been read by millions. . . . In summary, it is obvious to all that this nation is in trouble and that God is judging us (including the church) for our greed, and for preaching a gospel that is based more on the satisfaction of self more than crucifying the flesh and abandoning all for the Kingdom of God. This is a season of fasting and praying, but is also a great opportunity for the church to meet the needs of the thousands finding themselves homeless, unemployed, facing foreclosure, and those on Wall Street that are on the verge of losing all of their assets. What a time to stand in the gap as salt and light for our cities, whether they are under God’s judgment or not!
Globalization, Caste and Arranged Marriages
Like every girl, I enjoy a good love story. However, this one was different. As children growing up in Kerala, Marcus and Annamma Chacko lived just five kilometers apart. Their communities never intermingled. Marcus explains, "Though we hail from the same place, her people and my people had nothing much to do with each other because we belonged to two different castes." They finally met in Uttar Pradesh. Marcus was a guest singer at a music hall where
Annamma was in the audience. She instantly felt an affinity to Marcus when he sang in their mother tongue, Malayalam. After a three-minute conversation, they parted ways. Two years later they ran into each other again while working for the same nonprofit organization. Though in separate departments, they couldn't help but admire each other's warmth, energy, and passion for social justice.
International Women's Day (March 8) – Women You Are Valued, Significant and Important
It’s about two women - Naomi and Ruth -
who lived on the other side of a ‘Shining’ India.
Vanga Vango (come come) and listen to this inspiring story. Despite all the economic boom and 100 billion dollars in forex reserve,
life remains a struggle for many.
Starvation, poverty and poor yield
make the struggle for survival for many very difficult.
As a way of escape, some people commit suicide
While others leave to the cities in search of ‘better’ life
sorry… sorry… ‘ to a bitter’ life.
Naomi’s family was pushed to life’s edge.
Get-set-go,
They migrated to Delhi.
Why Delhi?!!! It could be any city, even yours
Was it to make big money?
Nope! Just to find enough food –
Konjam (little) happiness and to survive.
Slumdog Millionaire – Slumdog Mission
It was a pleasant surprise to watch Slumdog Millionaire win the Oscars. Rarely a movie pricks the conscience of a nation. But when it does it comes with a lot of soul searching to do. I see the soul of India searched again. I thought this was a fitting tribute to India’s 21st century reality. Though I live today in the comforts of the West I have experienced the slum dog moments in my growing years in India. It’s real. It’s everywhere. There are no ghettos in the west that can be compared to the squalor and abject poverty that stains the slums of India. It’s pretty difficult for any westerner to comprehend life in the hellish slums. I don’t think the movie is in anyway slamming down India. Slums do exist in many parts of Asia and Africa.

Are You On A Breakthrough Or Burnout?
As a pastor for more than 25 years I have seen many people serving in ministry burn out in the name of Christ, then fall away from their purpose. This is even very common among senior leaders but it can be avoided. In the past several years, I have personally experienced my mind being tired, requiring me to pull back for several months lest I burnout! The following are signs that show whether you are on the verge of burnout or breakthrough. Read the full article on Breakthrough Or Burnout!
Laminin – The Cell Adhesion Molecule That Holds Us Together Is In The Shape Of The CROSS!
Laminin is a family of glycoproteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding in almost every animal tissue. Laminin is vital to making sure overall body structures hold together. It has four arms that can bind to four other molecules. The three shorter arms are particularly good at binding to other laminin molecules, which is what makes it so great at forming sheets. The long arm is capable of binding to cells, which helps anchor the actual organs to the membrane. "Electron microscopy reveals a cross-like shape for all laminins investigated so far." AMAZING SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY!
Slumdog Millionaire – Reflection
As an Indian I am proud to know that Slumdog Millionaire has brought laurels to the country. Danny Boyle the director with Loveleen Tandon has produced a master piece. A.R. Rahman deserves full praise and commendation for his world class contribution. The script writer Simon Beaufoy has woven the story in a very attractive style that the audience are not bored but taken along the narration. The film has brought the stark realities of India before the global audience. The elite of the country has spoken against the movie as it brings the other side of India, which is not IT superpower urban India but real India.

Controversy!
There’s always something to be said about something controversial; people who never usually have opinions will suddenly have something to say; and people who generally do will pull out their soap boxes and start preaching. So where does the modern day church stand on controversial topics? Sure we like to talk about the ones that are likely to hit CNN’s headlines abortion, gay rights, affirmative action... but what about the real topics that matter? Topics that are at the root of the Church’s problems today, topics that aren’t receiving enough attention, but should be receiving the most. I’m talking about backbiting, gossip, church split ups, breakups, mess-ups, leadership problems, and all the little things that go on the back-ground that no one likes to talk about because if we do we’ll have to deal with them. What state does this leave the church in? A chaotic mess!
Jesus, The Only Way To Salvation
Hi, I am John Narayanan. I have been a follower of Jesus Christ for about six years now. My family belongs to the Brahmin Hindu caste. For four years, I studied the Vedas, which are the Hindu sacred writings, in the evenings after school. For two years, I learned yoga. I was exposed to meditation, special breathing, and kundalini or chi teachings. Then I came to Singapore to study. During one set of school holidays, I even served as a relief priest at a Hindu temple here. Despite my early and steep involvement in Hinduism, my family transferred me from a famous Hindu school to a Christian missionary school. From there I learned the song from Psalm 42, “As the deer panteth for water so my soul longeth after Thee.” I believe that it was this seed that brought me to the Lord Jesus.
The Pathway To Moksa [Spiritual Freedom]
We live in a world of complex realities today. The progress and the opportunities that come with it are manifold and yet there is despair. The world community is deeply involved in evolving ways and means for long lasting PEACE. It is the word of God that drives us all to share what it means to us as pilgrims on that path of peace and joy. This booklet “Pathway to Moksha” is written by Pandit Dharm Prakash Sharma, the son of the chief priest of Pushkar Teertha, Ajmer, India, and contains in brief; the truth from ancient books (scriptures) and his journey with Prabhu Ishu Krisht (Lord Jesus Christ). This booklet goes out with our prayer that this simple and earnest truth will enrich many lives and bring them to the peace and joy of the living God.

We Have Come To Pray For You; There is Witchcraft Done On You!
The Death Of My Guru - Testimony of Jag Mohan Chhabra - Here I was lacking nothing … power, position and wealth. But there was no peace within. Whatever I attempted ended in failure. My deteriorating health filled me with fear. I received all kinds of suggestions to resolve my situations and I tried most of them. I was like a drowning man, clutching at every straw. It was then, one fine morning at 7.00 am that my sister- in- law along with some friends descended on my home and she said: “We have come to pray for you; there is witchcraft done on you!” They offered to pray for me though I was least inclined and had difficulty concealing my hatred. And she insisted that I pray to Jesus leaving all other gods and goddesses of mine. I, a staunch Hindu, was not willing to do it. I told her that the only concession I was willing to make was to accept Jesus as one of the gods.
What On Earth Is Happening To The World Today?
The shaking and dismantling continues around the world’s systems, within the church systems, and within each of us. False foundations exposed brings opportunity for godly foundations to be established. It is another year of God exposing us . . . . exposing the weaknesses in our systems and methods of trying to touch Him, and trying to touch the world around us. We seem to continue to lower our standards in valuing character and integrity, especially in those who lead. Many have fallen into experiential leading of self-agenda’s, comical methods, and frenzied impressions of His presence. Nobody is laughing any longer, these are serious times, and it demands a people who know the wealth we carry in us, and the God who designed us for so much more. “The shaking we are experiencing today is a move of God . . . .
