Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

More Than Good Works, I Needed Forgiveness For My Sins | Rachbinder Bunger | Punjabi Christian

When I was young, I wanted to learn all I could about my gurus and their teachings. I learnt that my good deeds would take me to heaven and my bad deeds would take me to hell.

I started to wonder if my good deeds were good enough to take me to heaven. A school friend tried to tell me about his faith.

I said, “I Don’t Want To Know About The White Man’s Guru.”

One day I saw a group of people singing. I asked them what they were singing about. They said “We Are Singing About Jesus.”

I asked “Haven’t You Got Anything Better To Do?”

They said “We Are Telling People About Jesus. If You Want To Know More Come To Our Meeting On Sunday.”

I took a friend along to visit the church to educate them about our gurus. My aim was to go there and have a good argument with them.

We went to the church and they welcomed us. They sang a few songs but I didn’t understand them. The preacher started to preach saying “God Loved The World So Much . . . and God Loves You So Much.”

I felt like he was talking to me. I thought if God loves me so much, then what did He do about it? He told me that God sent His one and only Son into this world who was beaten and crucified. He took our sins upon Himself and then He rose again.

I kept listening then he said “If You Want To Be A Follower Of Jesus, Then Admit Your Sin, Humble Yourself Before Jesus, Ask Him To Forgive You And Ask Jesus To Come Into Your Life.”

I put my hand up for the prayer of salvation.
I prayed, “Jesus, I Need You. I’ve Done A Lot Of Good Works But I Am Not Convinced They Are Enough, But If You Say That You Will Forgive My Sins, Then I Will Accept This.”

Then immediately, I felt a huge burden lifted off me and I felt so light. As I went home, I began singing. I was thanking God with loud praises.

Now Jesus Christ is my Saviour. He has called me his son so I call Him my Father. I know Him as my Father now. I never think God is far away. He is always with me.

See What Great Love The Father Has Lavished On Us, That We Should Be Called Children Of God! And That Is What We Are! 1 John 3:1

But Now, O LORD, You Are Our Father; We Are The Clay, And You Are Our Potter; We Are All The Work Of Your Hand. Isaiah 64:8

And I Will Be A Father To You, And You Shall Be Sons And Daughters To Me, Says The LORD Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18
