Serving God's Purposes in Our Generation (Acts 13:36b)

Make A Difference

Longing to leave a legacy

In the heart of all people is a longing to make a difference and leave a mark in the world. Rulers have built monuments to themselves, others have tried to do great physical challenges and feats that would put them in the history books. I believe the best way to make a difference and leave a lasting legacy is to be a champion, serving others and helping them achieve their purpose.

A champion is someone who uses their time, talent and treasure to serve others, bettering their lives so they may encounter God and achieve their purpose. Champions make a difference for good, they make a difference for God by serving others.

Jesus our champion

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” Luke 4:18-19

As Jesus began his ministry he tells us clearly that the Spirit of God is on him, empowering and giving him grace so that he could speak good news, proclaim freedom for the bound, bring sight to the blind and liberty to the oppressed, proclaiming Gods favour to all. He was a champion by serving other people.

Jesus Taught Us to Be Champions

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10.43.45

We now have the same ministry as Jesus did and at it’s core the foundation is to take on the attitude and heart of a servant. This is the very nature and heart of our Saviour Jesus. He taught us by the extraordinary example of his own humble yet powerful life.

Be A Champion

1. With Your Words

Rash language cuts and maims, but there is healing in the words of the wise. Proverbs 12.18

Our words can bringing healing and they can also bring pain and hurt. Be a champion with your words and speak life, speak hope, speak healing, speak encouragement. Does your tongue need healing? Ask the Lord to help you speak like a Christ follower. Make a difference by speaking words of encouragement.

2. In Prayer

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. James 5.16-18

Your prayers are as powerful as the prophet Elijah’s! But prayers need to be prayed, spoken. Time set aside to bring things before God. Situations, circumstances and people can all be changed by prayer. You can pray people into victory. You can pray people into the Kingdom. You can pray for your Church family and make a difference. Make a difference on your knees in prayer

3. Through Acts Kindness

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Kindness can change the World. Show kindness to your family, to your Church and to strangers. Pay for someone’s coffee Be kind on the road, clear out your wardrobe give some clothes away. Give some of your books and bless someone, open a door for someone. There a many ways we can show kindness. Make a difference be kind.

We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love. Mother Teresa

4. Serve In The Family

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10

Families need everyone playing there part and serving each other. When the work is shared the burden is lighter, many hands make light work. Your All Nations family needs you to serve and play your part. Make a difference and serve in your Church family.
