Rousing The Warriors
Session 2
Kingdom Advancers - Commissioned

Preamble
§    God created the human race
§    Man was created to rule and have dominion
§    Man sinned, disobeyed God and in so doing gave his authority to the prince of this world.
§    Jesus came and bought back that authority with his own precious blood.
§    He now commissions us to enforce the Kingdom where ever we go

1.    The Great Commission
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."  Matthew 28:18-20
§    The Great Commission is still the great commission, it has not changed to the great suggestion
§    It is given by our Lord and Saviour
§    It is not optional
§    It is for every believer
§    Break it down and clarify it.

He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:7-8
§    Primary purpose of the Holy Spirit is to empower you to be a witness for Jesus
§    Not for better services, worship, prayer, gifts etc.
§    Preach Christ.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.  For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  2 Corinthians 2:14-15
§    Do you spread the smell of the Kingdom wherever you go?

2.    Early Kingdom Advancers
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.  He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.  Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.  Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.  "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'  If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.  Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.  "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you.  Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.'  Luke 10:1-9

The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name."  Luke 10:17

§    Even Jesus could not do the job alone.
§    We are all called to advance the Kingdom

3.    The Ultimate Kingdom Advancer
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.  Acts 10:38

§    Doing good
§    Healing all under the power of the devil
§    God was with him
§    He is our example

He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.  1 John 3:8
§    The reason you are here is to destroy the works of the devil

Four ways to advance the Kingdom

1.    Be A Kingdom Person
§    Live it, Be it, Personify it
§    Don’t change but let the world change
§    Be the peer causing the pressure

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.  Acts 10:38

2.    Preach
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  Romans 10:14
§    You must speak the gospel verbally
§    You may preach to one, or a few friends or a room full of people, but preach

3.    Do good deeds
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven  Matthew 5:16

§    The good deeds are acts of kindness not acts of worship

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'  "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'  "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'  "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'  "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'  "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."  Matthew 25:34-46

§    This is an important way to advance the kingdom

4.    Demonstrate the power of the gospel
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;  they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."  Mark 16:15-18

§    You must take opportunities when they are given
§    Don’t shrink back or cower but take that step of faith.

Conclusion
§    We have been entrusted with the most important, valuable message in eternity and have been given a charge from our Lord Jesus.
§    This generation must move from maintenance into advancing the Kingdom.
§    Will you become a Kingdom Advancer today?

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.  Matthew 11:12
