DOES God prevail upon His people and forbid them from acting unwisely? We need not look any further than this passage to get the answer. There is at least one good reason why God prevailed upon David and restrained him from killing Nabal. Though, on the run for his life and put to much hardship because of Saul, David had a strong sense of right and wrong.
How do we know that? His decision that he will not lay his hand on Saul, whom the Lord had chosen to be king of His people tells us about David’s sense of right and wrong (1 Samuel 24:6; 1 Sam 26:11). However, it may do us good to remember that this sense of justice does not come to all people naturally. It can only spring up from fear of God.
If you think you lack that sense to know right from wrong, get right with God and ask Him to fill you with wisdom. Our God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, will give it to you (James 1:5).

Prayer point: May Day. Pray for all who work hard to make ends meet. I Timothy 5:18 says, the laborer is worthy of his reward. If you have workers in your company or at your home, remember to be kind to them. Pray that the Lord who gives increase will bless them and their households.
Just for laughs: The story is told of a pastor who was frustrated because of one man who always seemed to fall asleep during the sermon. So the pastor devised a trick, a way he thought he could embarrass the man so as to get him to break this habit. Near the end of a sermon concerning ‘hell’, the Pastor, in a normal voice, said to the congregation, “Anyone here today who wants to go to hell” - then he raised his voice to a much louder volume – ‘PLEASE STAND UP!’ Of course, this woke up the sleeping parishioner who quickly jumped to his feet. After collecting himself for a moment, the man then looked at the pastor and said, “Preacher, I don't know what we’re voting on, but it appears that you and I are the only ones for it.”
